Chocolate and Pear Cake



The smell of the chocolate is spreading all over the house. Actually calling it a smell is a kind of diminishing it. It could be easily called a perfume and it is a shame there is not a bottom to allow you to enter in my kitchen.

I almost burnt my hands because I was excited to see the final result. Had to be patient and let cool down a bit. Because the appearance was amazing but the real beauty, you are going to see it, is inside.

The layer of finely cut pears is not only beautiful to see for the contrast of colours but it is giving to the cake a fluffiness difficult to describe.

Or better, "it seems to eat a cloud". If you want to have the same feeling, you need to bake this cake!


INGREDIENTS


210 gr of plain yogurt

180 ml of sunflower oil

275 gr of flour

4 medium eggs

220 gr of sugar

3 medium size pears 220 gr of sugar

16 gr of baking powder

150 gr of dark chocolate


METHOD


Preheat the oven to 170 degrees and butter a 23cm cake pan.

Peel off the skin of the pears and cut them in little pieces.

Melt the dark chocolate with bain marie method.

In a large mixing bowl beat the eggs on high speed with the sugar until you rich a thick and creamy mixture. This step should require around five- ten minutes.

Now add the sunflower oil, keep mixing, and once absorbed and incorporated add the yogurt and keep mixing for other two minutes at a medium speed, being careful not to take apart the eggs.

Now add the flour and the baking powder and keep mixing until combined and smooth.

With the help of a spatula add now the pears you previously cut in little squares.

Bake for one hour at 170 degrees in the static oven or at 160 degrees in the fan oven or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
